Queen Cassiopeia was the wife of Cepheus and mother of Andromeda. She always bragged that she and her daughter, were more beautiful than the Nereids. This, outraged Poseidon, who sent a sea monster to the coasts of Cassiopeia’s kingdom to threaten them. Cepheus, in his despair decided to sacrifice his daughter, who was eventually saved by Perseus. All the constellation names near Cassiopeia, were taken by the main characters of this myth.
